Boat Captain / Marine Operations Manager

Job Summary

We are seeking an experienced Boat Captain to oversee the daily operations of our watersports and marine services. This role focuses on ensuring smooth, safe, and efficient activities while delivering outstanding experiences to guests. The successful candidate will also be responsible for operating vessels up to 38 feet in length.

Key Responsibilities

• Command and navigate boats using essential marine instruments such as radar systems, GPS, depth sounders, radios, navigational markers, and signal lights.
• Safely manage docking and departure procedures, including maneuvering in confined or high-traffic areas.
• Monitor weather and sea conditions, adjusting routes and plans to ensure passenger and crew safety at all times.
• Conduct regular inspections of vessels and onboard equipment to maintain compliance with maritime safety standards and regulations.
• Track and interpret instrument readings, including pressure systems and fluid levels, to ensure optimal vessel performance.
• Plan navigation routes by calculating positions, speeds, and courses using charts, compasses, and local maritime knowledge.
• Direct and coordinate crew members during operations, including line handling, ramp control, and safety procedures.
• Maintain vessels and onboard systems, ensuring cleanliness, functionality, and readiness for daily use.
• Keep accurate logs of voyages, including crew activity, weather conditions, passenger details, routes, and environmental safety practices.
• Carry out additional operational duties as required.

Requirements

• Minimum of five (5) years’ experience serving as a licensed Boat Captain.
• Proven background in delivering high-quality customer service and resolving guest-related issues effectively.
• Knowledge of environmental safety practices, including spill response, reporting procedures, and hazardous material handling.
• Strong interpersonal and public relations skills.
• Excellent verbal and written communication abilities.
• Valid marine captain’s license.
• Up-to-date marine safety certifications.
