1. Carbon Emissions from Transportation
One of the most pressing environmental impacts of travel is the carbon footprint generated by various modes of transportation.
2. Resource Depletion
Traveling demands vast amounts of natural resources, from the fuel used in transportation to the resources consumed by the facilities that accommodate travelers.
3. Waste Generation
Traveling generates significant amounts of waste, which poses a threat to local environments, especially in popular tourist destinations.
4. Habitat Disruption
Tourism can have profound effects on local ecosystems. Increased foot traffic, pollution, and the construction of tourist facilities can lead to habitat loss and animal displacement.
– Feel free to identify the impacts not mentioned here.
I try to use public transport such as bus, train, shared cabs, etc., whenever feasible. I carry plastic wrappers and other waste with me and dispose them sensibly. I also prefer staying at homestays/bnb as compared to big hotels. As long as we treat a different city as our own and indulge in responsible tourism, I think we are good.
